Job summary

Priority Technology Holdings is seeking a Staff Data Engineer for a remote US role. You will architect and evolve data platforms across payments and commerce, guiding ingestion, processing, and data delivery at scale. You’ll lead multi-team initiatives, set standards, and shape AI-enabled capabilities while ensuring reliability and cost efficiency.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with analytics, software, and business teams, and drive architecture decisions aligned with enterprise goals.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in data/engineering or equivalent technical field.
• Deep expertise in data architecture, processing, warehousing, and large-scale design.
• Hands-on Snowflake expertise including security, governance, and cost management.
• Strong coding in Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, orchestration, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Proven ability to design batch and streaming pipelines at scale.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and modern architectures.
• Ability to establish engineering standards and reusable patterns.
• Strong focus on data quality, observability, CI/CD, and reliability.
• Independent contributor capable of solving ambiguous technical problems.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions without direct authority.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design of large-scale data systems and platform capabilities across domains.
• Defines reusable architecture patterns, standards, and best practices for ingestion and delivery.
• Designs scalable Snowflake solutions with reliability and cost efficiency.
• Collaborates with multiple teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Guides data ingestion patterns: batch, CDC, streaming, APIs, and file-based integrations.
• Drives outbound data delivery through data sharing, APIs, SFTP, and cross-cloud methods.
• Supports data products like Reporting Platform, DataBridge, and MCP-enabled services.
• Improves observability, testing, data quality, CI/CD, and operational readiness.
• Identifies technical debt and scalability risks; proposes long-term fixes.
• Provides architectural reviews and mentoring through design sessions.
