Job summary

Chainguard is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the engineering of its security-focused scanner platform. You will own architecture, scale, and reliability, partnering with Product Security and Product to deliver fast, accurate detections across all artifacts.

The role focuses on backend systems, production ownership, and high-throughput pipelines, with opportunities to influence product security in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and owning production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong understanding of software supply chain security, malware detection, vulnerability management.
• Proven track record in staff-level ownership and technical leadership in complex environments.
• Experience with high-throughput, event-driven pipelines where latency, throughput and correctness matter.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Chainguard's scanner platform, including orchestration and verdict storage.
• Scale the scanner across libraries, containers, and future artifact types.
• Build and scale detection analysis, including static and AI-assisted methods.
• Deliver APIs and services for customers to investigate, enforce, and appeal scanner findings.
