Job summary

Chainguard is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead the engineering of its production-grade security platform. You will own the architecture, scale, and reliability of the scanner, partnering with Product Security to transform threat research into fast, accurate detections.

You will be responsible for building the platform that runs across Libraries, Containers, and Agent Skills, balancing detection quality, performance, and extensibility while mentoring engineers and improving

Qualifications

• Multiple years building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems with staff-level ownership.
• Strong Go experience, or deep backend systems experience with the ability to ramp quickly in Go.
• Experience owning highly technical platforms or backend infrastructure supporting multiple products/customers.
• Experience with high-throughput, event-driven pipelines where throughput, latency, and correctness matter.
• Strong understanding of software supply chain security, malware detection, vulnerability management, or adjacent security domains.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Chainguard's scanner platform, including scan orchestration, verdict storage, and APIs.
• Scale the platform across Libraries, Containers, Agent Skills, and future artifact types.
• Develop deterministic static analysis and AI-assisted detection capabilities with Product Security.
• Build backend services for policy management, enterprise-scale operations, and customer investigations.
• Operate the scanner in production with reliability, observability, and incident response.
