Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the engineering of our malware-detection platform. You will own the scanner architecture, scale, reliability, and partner with Product Security to translate threat research into production detections across all artifacts.

You'll drive production ownership of the backend systems that power Libraries, Containers, Agent Skills, and future products, balancing detection quality, performance, and cost in a security-driven, remote-first

Qualifications

• Multiple years building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
• Strong Go experience or deep backend know-how with Go.
• Experience owning technical platforms that support multiple products.
• Experience with high-throughput, event-driven pipelines.
• Solid understanding of software supply chain security and malware detection.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Chainguard's malware scanning platform and its APIs.
• Scale the scanner beyond current products to future artifact types.
• Build deployment-ready detections and performance optimizations.
• Operate the scanner in the critical path with reliability and incident response.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Security, Design, and GTM teams.
