Job summary

Capital One is actively building responsible and reliable AI systems to reimagine banking for good. The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team develops AI models and platforms, enabling collaboration across engineering, research, and product teams to deliver scalable AI capabilities for millions of customers.

You will influence enterprise AI architecture and contribute to a long-term roadmap, while championing governance, observability, and ethical considerations in production systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field with 6+ years AI/ML experience.
• At least 8 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents and multi-agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch, and more.
• Invent and introduce foundation model optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, cost, latency, throughput.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
• Set the technical direction for enterprise-wide AI architecture with unified tooling, observability, and deployment standards.
• Own design/integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration for hybrid multi-model workloads.
• Champion responsible AI principles across system design with transparency, reproducibility, and fairness-by-design.
• Drive internal education, mentorship, and dissemination of best practices through architecture councils and AI guilds.
