Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Staff AI Engineer for a remote role in healthcare technology. You will define the technical direction for AI-enabled engineering workflows, partnering with product and engineering to improve how software is built, validated, and delivered while focusing on safe autonomy and privacy-aware design.

You will lead by example in AI-native engineering practices, extend workflows across the SDLC, and collaborate cross-functionally to turn ideas into reliable production systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building and operating production systems.
• Experience with agentic coding workflows or autonomous loops.
• Ability to identify bottlenecks across the software lifecycle.
• Proven technical leadership without direct management.
• Strong background in mobile or backend APIs, concurrency, reliability.
• Knowledge of security and privacy when handling sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for the agentic pipeline, ensuring reliability and improved developer experience.
• Extend agentic workflows across the entire software development lifecycle, from code generation to post-deployment signals.
• Prototype new workflows rapidly and transition them into production infrastructure.
• Manage AI in production, including evaluation sets and performance metrics.
• Design safe autonomy with appropriate guardrails and privacy considerations.
• Lead by example in AI-native engineering practices across the organization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure cohesive system development and trade-off management.
