Job summary

Umpqua Health in Roseburg, OR is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial operations. Under the Controller, you will prepare statements, maintain records, perform GL, reconciliations, and assist with month-end close. You will contribute to audits, budgeting, variance analysis, and internal controls while pursuing process improvements.

This is a full-time exempt role with standard weekday hours. A 4-year degree in accounting (or equivalent) and 3+ years of experience, plus GAAP knowledge

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• 4-year degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger activities, reconciliations, and identify discrepancies.
• Reconcile monthly bank statements and record transactions accurately.
• Back up accounts payable processing when needed.
• Back up payroll processing when needed.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting docs.
• Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance reports with explanations.
• Support annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Produce ad hoc financial reports and data summaries for decisions.
• Assist audits with documentation and information requests.
• Suggest improvements to policies, controls, and procedures.
