Umpqua Health is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Roseburg, Oregon team. This full-time, on-site role supports general accounting processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting within a collaborative healthcare-focused environment.

The position emphasizes GAAP know-how, payroll basics, Excel proficiency, and clear communication. You’ll work with management on expenses, budgets, and year-end reporting, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with policy

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Basic payroll experience.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• 1+ years of work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving status.
• Not excluded from federal healthcare programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate approval processes of all accounts payable invoices and participate in the weekly payment process.
• Distribute financially related mail and documentation in accordance with internal controls.
• Review general ledger entries for accuracy and ensure accounts are properly reconciled and maintained.
• Respond to inquiries from management and department leaders regarding expenses, budgets, and financial reporting.
• Perform inventory reconciliation and maintain accurate records.
• Track fixed asset acquisitions and disposals, including reporting to the County Assessor’s Office.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial analyses.
• Support payroll-related functions within the Finance Department as needed.
• Provide general ledger and financial statement support, including assistance with monthly and year-end reporting.
• Assist the Controller and Staff Accountant with preparation of financial statements and related reporting.
• Support special projects and financial initiatives as assigned.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and organizational information.
• Comply with organizational policies and procedures and applicable regulations.
