Job summary

National Forest Foundation seeks a Southeast Reforestation Specialist to lead planning, guidance, and technical support for restoration projects across the Southeast, starting with North Carolina. Remote work from home and field collaboration with US Forest Service are essential.

Five+ years in forestry/restoration plus GIS/GPS proficiency are highly valued. Travel, strong communication, and coordination with partners are required for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, ecology, natural resource management, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in forestry, ecological restoration, reforestation, or project planning.
• Knowledge of southeastern forest ecosystems and silvicultural practices preferred, especially on National Forest System lands.

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand reforestation work across the Southeast, starting with North Carolina National Forests.
• Remotely manage projects through full life cycle, including planning, contracts, and budgets.
• Collaborate with Forest Service and partners to create implementation plans and site prioritization.
• Maintain knowledge of advances in reforestation and provide guidance to field staff.
• Collect and analyze impact metrics and prepare reports for funders and partners.
• Support fundraising and storytelling to raise awareness of southeastern reforestation.
