Job summary

Crossing Hurdles seeks a SolidWorks Specialist to create fully-parametric 3D CAD models and update existing ones from written briefs. You will ensure dimensional accuracy, apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and confirm manufacturability across processes.

This remote contract role requires strong documentation and weekly reporting to project coordinators. Expect 10-40 hours per week with compensation ranging from $40 to $100 per hour, depending on experience and scope.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in parametric CAD modeling across major tools.
• Practical application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 in manufacturing contexts.
• Experience supporting multiple manufacturing methods (injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting/forging).
• Active involvement in mechanical/industrial CAD modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for clear project documentation.
• Reverse engineering capability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create fully-parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on written briefs.
• Edit and update existing parametric models to meet new technical requirements with complete documentation.
• Audit and review models for dimensional accuracy, proper tolerance application, and manufacturability.
• Apply deep knowledge of DFM principles for various manufacturing processes throughout modeling tasks.
• Translate design intent and requirements into clear, structured CAD data suitable for AI model training.
• Communicate effectively with project coordinators and fellow contributors through detailed reports and updates.
