Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Solid Propulsion Development Engineer to lead propulsion hardware design and oversee hypersonics programs. You will interface with cross-functional teams and subcontractors to mature solid propulsion systems for space and defense applications.

The role requires advancing testing, optimization, and documentation of propulsion components, with responsibility for meeting program requirements and ensuring compliance with standards, while relocating to Huntsville, AL if needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum of 4 years' rocket propulsion development or test engineering experience; 2 years with a Master's.
• Experience with solid rocket motor applications and ground testing planning.
• Ability to write clear technical reports and present to teams and stakeholders.
• Willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL area and able to obtain security clearance.
• Active Secret clearance, with potential Top Secret if needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead technical engineer for design and development of propulsion hardware.
• Design, build, and test prototype solid rocket motor components.
• Coordinate with propulsion system suppliers on design elements.
