Job summary

Leidos LLC in Huntsville, AL seeks a Solid Propulsion Development Engineer to lead design, development and testing of solid rocket motor hardware for hypersonics and other programs. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, conduct trade studies, and present results to customers and stakeholders.

A bachelor degree in a STEM field and 8+ years of propulsion experience are required, with a Master’s degree counting toward experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 8+ years in rocket propulsion development or test engineering; 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
• Knowledge of solid rocket motor designs, performance, and testing.
• Experience planning and supporting ground testing including thermal characterization and static firing.
• Ability to write clear technical reports and present results to multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of propulsion hardware for critical systems.
• Design, build, and test prototype solid rocket motor components.
• Negotiate design elements with propulsion system suppliers.
