Job summary

Nextpower is seeking an Application Engineer to support solar inverter and PCS systems across North American markets. The role involves technical support for customer applications, proposal development, and system integration, working with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Services to ensure proper product application for solar, energy storage, and grid-connected projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems or related field (Master’s bonus).
• 3+ years in applications engineering, utility-scale renewables, or technical support.
• Experience with solar inverters, PCS, and energy storage systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, datasheets, schematics, and project specs.
• Strong communication for customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical application support for power conversion products in utility-scale solar and BESS.
• Review customer requirements, project specs, single-line diagrams, site conditions, interconnection requirements, and product needs.
• Propose inverter and PCS configurations based on project requirements and system design.
• Prepare and support technical documentation including compliance matrices and submittals.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to assess fit, exceptions, and constraints.
• Support system integration discussions with EPCs, developers, utilities, and integrators.
• Assist with technical reviews related to grid interconnection, controls, and protection.
• Coordinate with sales and field teams for design reviews, factory visits, and demonstrations.
• Capture customer feedback, application issues, and market requirements.
