Job summary

Madison Energy Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to monitor and optimize 600+ solar and BESS assets across the United States. You will work remotely, analyze production and weather data, and drive root-cause investigations to protect revenue and fleet health.

The role emphasizes pattern recognition, data interpretation, and clear action-oriented reporting, with a preference for experience in AlsoEnergy or Power Factors platforms and Power BI.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of expert-level experience in commercial and utility solar monitoring using DAS/SCADA platforms (AlsoEnergy or Power Factors strongly preferred).
• Deep understanding of solar performance metrics: PR, availability, capacity factor, insolation, degradation, and inverter-level diagnostics.
• Experience reading and interpreting PVSyst models, pro-forma energy projections, single-line diagrams, and string layout drawings.

Responsibilities

• Analyze weekly, and monthly production data across 600+ solar and BESS sites using Power BI dashboards and monitoring systems.
• Evaluate key performance metrics including PR, Weather-Adjusted PR, insolation gap, availability, capacity factor, and forecast-vs-actual variance to assess site health.
• Investigate root causes of underperformance—distinguishing between equipment failures, inverter outages, soiling/snow loss, weather anomalies, curtailment, and data quality issues.
• Flag confirmed underperformance to the appropriate RAM with clear, concise summaries of the issue, affected capacity, estimated performance loss, and recommended next steps.
• Monitor sub-inverter-level performance across the fleet to detect issues, string-level degradation, and equipment-specific trends that site-level metrics may obscure.
• Track and follow up on open issues to ensure timely resolution
• Contribute to monthly production reporting, including data validation, cleaning flags, and variance commentary.
