Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a Software Engineer for the Trust and Risk, Fraud, and Integrity teams. You will design production systems that detect and prevent abuse, build scalable infrastructure, and respond to threats in real time while balancing user experience.

You should have 4+ years of software engineering experience, strong Python skills, and a background in Trust and Risk or related domains. Hybrid work with SF/LA hubs, and a focus on impact and fast delivery.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of total software engineering experience.
• 1+ years of production Python coding.
• 1+ years in Trust & Risk, Integrity, or Fraud domains preferred.
• Explicit data science or ML experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop systems to protect the platform and users.
• Balance risk with user experience to minimize friction.
• Respond in real time to threats with event-driven pipelines and detection frameworks.
• Contribute across the full development lifecycle from ideation to monitoring.
• Collaborate across product surfaces and leadership to surface insights.
