Job summary

Lyric is the trusted leader in healthcare decision intelligence. This 12-week Software Engineer Intern program invites students to apply their academic experience to real production software challenges across full-stack development, APIs, cloud technologies, databases, automated testing, and AI-assisted tooling.

You will work alongside experienced Lyric engineers to modernize the payment integrity platform, test RESTful services, and contribute to scalable databases while learning secure coding

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field
• Expected to have completed the third year of undergraduate study prior to the start of the internship
• Completion of university coursework in programming, software development, data structures, algorithms, databases, or related computer science disciplines
• Foundational programming experience gained through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, hackathons, research, or other university activities
• Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as:C# Java Python JavaScript/TypeScript C++ Or a comparable object-oriented programming language
• Foundational understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL gained through coursework or project experience
• Familiarity with source control concepts and tools such as Git/GitHub
• Interest in using AI as part of the software development lifecycle while understanding the importance of validating AI-generated work
• No prior professional software engineering experience required

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and delivery of software supporting Lyric's healthcare technology platform
• Work on modernization initiatives involving .NET, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and web applications
• Assist with developing and testing RESTful APIs and microservices
• Contribute to front-end development using Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Gain hands-on experience with relational databases such as SQL Server
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, and documentation
• Participate in code reviews and learn software engineering practices
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and learn CI/CD practices
• Learn cloud exposure to Azure and/or AWS and observe observability and telemetry practices
