Job summary

Lyric is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to contribute to modernizing our payment integrity platform, build scalable APIs, and improve data performance. You will work with experienced engineers across full-stack development, APIs, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted software development.

The 12-week program targets students who have completed their third year in CS/SE/CE/IT and emphasizes code quality, security, testing, and human judgment when using AI coding tools.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field
• Expected to have completed the third year of undergraduate study prior to the start of the internship
• Completion of university coursework in programming, software development, data structures, algorithms, databases, or related computer science disciplines
• Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, or comparable OO language
• Foundational understanding of OO programming, data structures, algorithms, and software development principles
• Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub
• Interest in using AI as part of the software development lifecycle
• No prior professional software engineering experience required

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, testing, and delivery of software supporting Lyric's platform
• Work on modernization initiatives involving .NET, APIs, databases, cloud technologies
• Assist with developing and testing RESTful APIs and microservices
• Contribute to front-end development using Angular, React, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Gain hands-on experience with relational databases such as SQL Server
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, and testing
• Participate in code reviews and learn about high-quality software practices
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and learn CI/CD practices
• Help identify and resolve defects and performance issues
• Learn cloud deployment and observability in Azure or AWS
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, UX, DevOps, QA and others to translate requirements
• Apply secure software development practices and engage in Agile processes
• Maintain technical documentation and present internship deliverables
