Job summary

AttainX, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer II to support the DHS, CISA, IRME program.

The role focuses on software engineering analysis, modernization planning, and system sustainment, including assessing components, data flows, and performance to define measurable outcomes. The candidate should have a BS in a related field and 3–5 years of experience with APIs, cloud-based solutions, testing, and system integration; US citizenship is required for DHS access.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• 3–5 years of software engineering experience including design, API integration, cloud-based solutions, and testing.
• Experience with system integration, lifecycle delivery, and modern software design.
• Proficiency with version control, code review, and automated builds.
• Familiarity with security risks, performance bottlenecks, and dependencies.

Responsibilities

• Assess software components, interfaces, cloud dependencies, data flows, and analytical workflows.
• Analyze technical debt, performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and reliability concerns; document risks.
• Support stakeholder interviews to define requirements and candidate capabilities.
• Document workflows, constraints, and modernization goals; evaluate engineering alternatives.
• Provide inputs to modernization roadmap, plans, and risk analyses.
• Define measurable success criteria and traceability for milestones and validation.
• Prepare engineering assessments, briefings, and demonstrations for governance.
• Maintain knowledge repositories and transition materials.
