Job summary

SkyePoint Decisions is seeking a Software Development Lead to guide secure software development for a federal customer. You’ll direct design, development, integration, testing, deployment, operation, and sustainment while enforcing SecDevOps practices and NIST SSDF compliance.

This remote role requires coordinating cross-functional teams and Government stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable enterprise software in a compliant SDLC environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 8+ years of software engineering/application development experience.
• 3+ years leading software development teams or major engineering activities.
• Experience leading the design, development, integration, testing, deployment, operation, and maintenance of enterprise software systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading Agile development teams, including backlog refinement, sprint/release planning, reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
• Experience implementing secure SDLC and SecDevOps/DevSecOps practices.
• Experience in Federal or controlled enterprise environments with established development/architecture standards.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, secure SDLC, SecDevOps/DevSecOps, and NIST SP 800-218 SSDF.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, source-code management, code reviews, build automation, release management, and automated deployment.
• Experience automated testing and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Automation to accelerate testing and improve software quality.
• Application security practices/tools (SAST, DAST, SCA, etc.).
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and software supply-chain security.
• Experience with APIs, databases, and cloud-native apps.
• Proficiency with modern languages/frameworks and development tools.
• Understanding of authentication/authorization, data protection, logging, and monitoring.
• Engineering artifacts: ADRs, Runbooks, Release Notes, etc.
• Ability to establish/document/version-control standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams across software development, architecture, integration, testing, cybersecurity, SecDevOps, deployment, and sustainment.
• Establish development, secure coding, documentation, automated testing, configuration-management, and release standards.
• Lead Agile planning and execution, including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, dependency management, reviews, and delivery tracking.
• Coordinate developers, testers, cybersecurity personnel, architects, product owners, operations, and Government stakeholders.
• Translate requirements into prioritized backlogs and executable software increments.
• Integrate cybersecurity findings into development priorities and lead remediation.
• Review code, architecture decisions, automated test results, and deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Monitor velocity, cycle time, test coverage, defects, vulnerabilities, build/deployment success, and remediation metrics.
• Identify and resolve risks, dependencies, impediments, and delivery issues.
