Job summary

Disability Law Group is seeking a Social Security Attorney to manage a high-volume caseload, representing clients in disability claims and hearings. You will collaborate with a dedicated Case Manager and a growing tech-supported infrastructure, including AI tools for brief generation and hearing prep.

This role offers independence, flexibility, and responsibility over case files, with a Case Manager handling grunt work and a team assisting with intake.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
• Strong writing, communication, and time management skills.
• Commitment to disability rights and client-centered advocacy.
• Prior SSA representation experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients before the SSA at all levels: Initial Application, Reconsideration, ALJ Hearings, and Appeals Council.
• Draft legal briefs, memoranda, and Appeals Council letters.
• Collaborate with Case Managers to prepare ERE submissions and ensure timely record acquisition.
• Maintain consistent client communication with empathy and professionalism.
• Monitor filing deadlines, hearing schedules, and appeals using Prevail and ERE systems.
• Participate in weekly department meetings and attorney strategy sessions.
• Work closely with supervising attorney on complex matters and receive structured mentorship.
• Option to participate in Federal USDC work over time (not required initially).
