Job summary

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program offers hands-on experience for college students in a nonprofit, voluntary health organization. In this role, the intern will support the Social Media Marketing team by crafting posts, researching campaigns, and promoting heart‑health initiatives across the Eastern States Region through digital platforms, with remote work options.

The program provides access to Heart U and local and national training, helping you balance life and work.

Qualifications

• Senior or grad student in business-related field (visual communications, marketing, or social media).
• Knowledge and experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram.
• Knowledge and experience with social media scheduling tools, such as Sprout Social or similar.
• Basic video, graphic design and writing skills. Canva or similar experience preferred.
• Experience with social media monitoring, reporting and analysis.
• Ability to work professionally in a corporate or non‑profit environment and guide projects from inception through completion.
• Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm EST.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Work with the digital team to craft and execute social media posts for Facebook, X and Instagram.
• Monitor results of social media content on key platforms and provide analysis of findings.
• Source new content ideas and monitor trends on social platforms.
• Conduct an analysis of what other organizations and brands are doing on social media and present findings to the digital team.
• Learn brand standards and ensure content aligns with the goals and mission of the organization.
