Job summary

Peraton is seeking a SOC Analyst to join the Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) program. The role supports global consular IT operations, security monitoring, and incident response in a largely remote setting with occasional onsite activities in the DMV area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, or Associate's with 7+ years, or high school diploma with 9+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET security clearance.
• 3+ years of cybersecurity/SOC or systems security experience in a federal government environment supporting high availability systems.
• Experience with a SIEM platform (Splunk preferred) and with Splunk dashboards.
• Experience querying and analyzing security data (SPL) and understanding data types and regex.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, network security threats, and RMF/NIST standards (NIST SP 800-53).
• Familiarity with RMF and NIST standards and DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and investigate security alerts; perform threat hunting and notify incident responders.
• Analyze network traffic to identify anomalies and potential threats to resources.
• Create advanced SPL queries and coordinate with teams to investigate threats and perform forensic analysis.
• Review and analyze logs from host, network, and security devices to identify threats.
• Utilize SIEM/EDR tools to monitor and secure the environment.
• Develop configuration standards, policies, and procedures; advise on risk mitigation.
• Train and mentor junior SOC team members; plan SOC projects and initiatives.
