Job summary

The Food Research & Action Center seeks an Anti-Hunger Program Associate to advance Maryland’s public nutrition programs and address food security through outreach, research, coalition-building, and technical assistance. The role reports to the MDHS SNAP Program Lead and involves regular local travel across Maryland, with some in-person responsibilities in a fully remote team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience.
• Experience with SNAP or other federal nutrition programs is a plus.
• Strong writing, analysis, and outreach skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and provide SNAP application assistance and pre-screening support.
• Provide training to partner organizations and public agencies.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase participation in public nutrition programs, with focus on SNAP.
• Work with state and local partners, community groups, and farmers’ markets.
• Attend community events to engage residents and stakeholders about SNAP.
• Support MDHS research, policy improvement, and program implementation on SNAP.
• Analyze policies affecting participation and food access in Maryland.
• Collect and report data on Maryland participation rates in public nutrition programs.
• Help strengthen coalitions and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners.
