Job summary

Octave is seeking a Site Reliability Senior Manager to lead a growing SRE team and own reliability strategy across production systems. You will coach engineers, set direction, and guide architecture while stepping in during critical incidents.

You will build SLIs/SLOs, own incident response, improve observability, and push for automation to reduce toil. This role requires collaboration with security and product leaders and involves remote-friendly leadership across regions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in site reliability, DevOps, or infra engineering with 2+ years leading engineers.
• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog or OpenTelemetry.
• Record of leading incident response and turning lessons into durable improvements.
• Excellent communication and cross-team influence at senior levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a team of Site Reliability Engineers, fostering ownership and blameless accountability.
• Define and drive the reliability roadmap with SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical services.
• Own end-to-end incident management, on-call structure, escalation paths, and post-incident reviews.
• Improve observability across the stack with metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Champion automation to reduce toil and improve deployment safety, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Partner with engineering/product leaders to balance feature velocity with reliability.
• Manage cloud infrastructure cost and performance while preserving resilience.
• Report reliability health, trends, and risks to senior leadership.
