Job summary

Avalon Healthcare Solutions is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to secure, automate, and scale our cloud infrastructure. You’ll manage Palo Alto firewalls, engineer secure AWS environments, and apply SRE practices to ensure reliability, visibility, and automation across the platform.

This role is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network security, cloud engineering, or SRE.
• Strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls & AWS network security.
• Hands-on Terraform knowledge; ability to build scalable modules.
• Proficiency with observability tools (Grafana, OpenSearch).
• Proficiency with AWS container runtime environments ECS, Fargate and Lambda.
• Strong debugging/troubleshooting across cloud + network stacks.

Responsibilities

• Configure/manage networks, firewalls, policies, NAT, VPN
• Engineer secure AWS architectures (VPCs, routing, Transit Gateway, WAF, API Gateways).
• Implement and govern AWS Security Groups and access policies.
• Automate infrastructure through Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop dashboards/alerting in Grafana, OpenSearch, CloudWatch.
• Troubleshoot security/network incidents; lead root cause and remediation.
• Manage AWS services such as Opensearch, ElastiCache, Aurora and EC2/ECS/Fargate
