Hamilton Select, part of Hamilton Insurance Group, seeks a Senior/Executive Underwriter Team Lead for Small Business in the US. The role is remote-friendly with a preference for Richmond, VA, reporting to the Division Manager.

You will lead complex E&S casualty underwriting, manage broker relationships, and drive profitable growth across a diversified Small Business portfolio. The position emphasizes technology-enabled underwriting, portfolio discipline, and collaboration with actuaries,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of casualty underwriting experience, preferably in the E&S marketplace.
• Strong technical underwriting expertise in casualty and liability.
• Proven ability to manage profitable books through disciplined underwriting and broker relationships.
• Experience underwriting difficult-to-place risks and identifying portfolio opportunities.
• Understanding broker segmentation, appetite management and profitability metrics.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex Excess & Surplus casualty risks (contractors, real estate, hospitality, habitational).
• Manage wholesale broker portfolios to achieve profitable growth and disciplined underwriting.
• Develop growth through distribution, appetite management and class portfolio strategy.
• Maintain underwriting standards and portfolio discipline for profitability.
• Monitor performance across brokers, classes and territories to identify trends and action steps.
• Use data analytics and underwriting insights to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Collaborate with technology, product, actuarial and claims teams to enhance strategy and portfolio.
• Mentor and develop other underwriters and ensure regulatory compliance.
