Job summary

The Standard is seeking a Mid‑Market Senior Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite complex employee benefits cases in the 1,000–4,999 life range, applying advanced underwriting expertise to drive profitable growth and long‑term customer retention.

You will serve as a subject‑matter expert within Regional Accounts and Mid‑Market underwriting teams, mentoring colleagues and elevating decision quality while collaborating across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 years of progressively responsible experience in employee benefits underwriting with 3-5 years of experience underwriting for Life, Short-term Disability (STD), and Long-term Disability (LTD).
• Strong proficiency in underwriting guidelines, procedures, contract provisions, and state insurance statutes.
• Experience mentoring or supporting the development of other underwriters.
• Familiarity with mid‑market or regional account underwriting environments.
