Job summary

RK&K seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects nationwide. You will collaborate with engineers and project managers on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, and other delivery types, using ORD for roadway design and modeling.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in transport design, a VA PE or eligibility within 6 months, and strong communication skills to mentor junior staff and coordinate with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Active Virginia PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in ORD for roadway design and modeling.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to work with dispersed teams.
• Familiarity with multiple state DOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
