Job summary

Fuss & O'Neill is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer in Massachusetts to lead a range of transportation projects, including traffic impact studies and signal/safety improvements. You will guide project teams, develop reports, and ensure designs meet DOT requirements.

Ideal candidates bring 6+ years of experience, a PE or eligibility within six months, and strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across municipal and state agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Typically requires 6+ years of experience.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months.
• Proficiency in traffic simulation software, including SYNCHRO and SIDRA.
• Knowledge of CAD software including MicroStation/OpenRoads; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.
• Experience with DOT project design and plan preparation requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports, specifications, and designs for transportation projects.
• Develop technical traffic reports and documents for DOT, municipalities and private developers.
• Develop and conduct traffic impact studies, including trip generation, capacity analysis, and crash/safety analysis.
• Develop traffic signal design and manage design of safety improvement projects.
• Oversight of traffic counts, analyze traffic data, and identify patterns and trends.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams using traffic simulation software.
• Design transportation plans and systems to improve safety, efficiency, and mobility.
• Stay informed about advances in transportation engineering and standards.
