Job summary

TE Connectivity Corporation seeks a Principal Thermal & Multiphysics Engineer to lead advanced thermal research, simulations, and validation for high-performance interconnect systems used in AI data centers and data communications. You will guide cross-functional teams and mentor engineers while shaping thermal design strategies from PoCs to NPI handoff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Eng or Physics with 12+ yrs experience, or Master’s 10+ yrs, or PhD 6+ yrs.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical design and modeling using Creo, SolidWorks, or NX.
• Expertise in ANSYS, Abaqus, or FloTHERM for thermal/structural analysis.
• DFM, DFA, and transition of mechanical designs to high-volume manufacturing.
• Materials science knowledge (polymers, metals, and thermal materials).
• Experience with reliability testing (thermal cycling, vibration, drop/shock, HALT/HASS).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end multiphysics simulation strategy for thermal performance of complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Support thermal architecture development and heat transfer strategies to meet system targets.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to optimize packaging and thermal solutions.
• Lead thermal model validation and correlation through lab testing and development of design margins.
• Mentor engineers and build domain expertise in thermal sciences and physics-based design.
• Represent the organization externally with customers, industry forums, and standards bodies on advanced thermal challenges.
• Contribute to cross-functional reviews and governance of thermal designs.
• Support innovation in next-generation cooling solutions and AI-driven optimization.
