Job summary

RTX is seeking an engineer to advance multi‑physics simulations for propulsion and thermal management in a hybrid East Hartford setting. You will collaborate with propulsion, microelectronics, and space systems teams to apply advanced computational approaches and contribute to externally funded programs.

You will develop ML‑assisted modeling, optimize heat exchangers and cooling channels, and help shape next‑gen cooling solutions and reliability predictions for complex hardware.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering with 3+ years of experience or without formal experience.
• Minimum 1 year research in Heat Transfer or Thermodynamics.

Responsibilities

• Model single- and two‑phase flows with interfacial physics.
• Develop multi‑physics simulations coupling thermal, fluid, structural, and thermomechanical responses.
• Design advanced cooling strategies for high‑heat‑flux electronics (microchannels, jet impingement, etc.).
• Conduct design‑space exploration using ML, AI‑assisted modeling, and uncertainty quantification.
• Perform parametric and topology optimization of thermal components.
• Model systems for engines, space propulsion, undersea propulsion, and cryogenic cooling.
• Predict device reliability using thermomechanical modeling.
• Support experimental efforts such as thermal testing and two‑phase loops.
