Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Technical Accounting Manager to navigate complex transactions under U.S. GAAP and guide the company through new accounting standards. You will collaborate with Legal, FP&A, Tax, and Investor Relations to ensure SEC readiness and accurate financial disclosures.

You will lead memos, policy development, and reviews of significant leases, revenues, and financing activities while mentoring junior staff in a fast-paced cloud and AI environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive technical accounting experience under U.S. GAAP
• Experience with financing arrangements, consolidations, derivatives, stock-based compensation and business combinations
• Public company experience including SEC reporting and SOX internal controls
• Big 4 audit or transaction advisory experience preferred
• Experience leading accounting for financing and M&A transactions of meaningful size

Responsibilities

• Draft high-quality accounting memos and analyses for management and auditors
• Evaluate and operationalize accounting for complex transactions; provide guidance to business partners
• Review lease accounting for material data center and GPU arrangements
• Review non-routine revenue arrangements with Revenue Accounting
• Lead accounting and valuation of M&A transactions and strategic investments
• Perform impairment analyses for goodwill and intangible assets
• Develop and maintain accounting policies aligned with standards
• Monitor FASB/SEC rulemaking and implement new standards
• Serve as primary technical accounting contact for external auditors
• Collaborate on disclosures for SEC filings and offering documents
• Review cash flow statements and EPS calculations; support preparation
• Ensure general ledger entries reflect complex transactions
• Prepare executive-level technical accounting updates
• Design and execute management review controls over technical accounting
• Mentor junior staff and support ad hoc requests
