Job summary

Agility Robotics is expanding Digit calibration efforts to ensure reliable, repeatable performance across perception sensors and robot kinematics in production environments.

The Sr. Staff Software Engineer - Calibration will design, build, and deliver calibration systems used in production, leveraging existing vendors and components while mentoring other engineers and guiding long-term technical directions for calibration at Agility.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of practical experience calibrating complex robotic or sensor-rich systems in production environments.
• Design and deliver end-to-end calibration systems including algorithms, fixtures, on-fixture software, validation, and operator workflow.
• Deep expertise across multiple sensor modalities (RGB cameras, LiDAR, thermal imagers, IMUs, encoders) with knowledge of sensor extrinsics to kinematics.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deliver calibration systems end to end, including algorithms, fixtures, on-fixture software, data pipelines, validation, and operator workflow.
• Own calibration across perception sensors and robot kinematics, including joint approaches that couple sensor extrinsics with kinematics.
• Establish data and metrics infrastructure, including per-unit records, accuracy/drift metrics, traceability, and fleet monitoring.
• Deliver calibration fixture software and operator-facing applications on Linux.
• Provide in-field self-check and recalibration capabilities to maintain calibration validity across Digit’s service life.
• Define requirements calibration outputs place on downstream manufacturing processes (cycle time, repeatability, data capture, workflow).
• Coordinate with sensor vendors and contract manufacturers on deployment and acceptance criteria.
• Identify, hire, and mentor other engineers contributing to calibration work.
