Job summary

Vaco is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant to join a growing finance and accounting team. This role is remote within Florida and offers a compensation range of $80-$95k per year.

You will own day-to-day accounting across multiple sales channels, including Amazon and Shopify, with a strong emphasis on inventory, COGS, and month-end close. The ideal candidate has 3-5+ years of accounting experience in CPG, consumer products, e-commerce, or inventory-based environments and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience within CPG, consumer products, e-commerce, retail, or an inventory-based business strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and COGS.
• Experience with Amazon and Shopify accounting/reconciliations preferred.
• Experience managing accounts payable and vendor relationships.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Comfortable working with large transaction volumes and multiple data sources.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a fast-paced, collaborative finance team.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily and monthly accounting activities across Amazon, Shopify, retail, wholesale, and other sales channels.
• Perform inventory and COGS accounting, including inventory reconciliations and related journal entries.
• Reconcile Amazon, Shopify, payment processors, bank accounts, and credit cards.
• Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment tracking, and vendor reconciliations.
• Support and execute the month-end close process.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense schedules.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate accounting records across high transaction volumes and multiple data sources.
• Support sales tax reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Assist with retail and wholesale accounting, including deductions, chargebacks, allowances, and related reconciliations.
• Help improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial workflows as the organization grows.
• Partner with finance leadership on financial reporting, audits, and other accounting and finance initiatives.
