CARTO is a leading cloud-native spatial analytics platform seeking an engineer to guide the future of its Analytics Toolbox and workflows. You’ll work across BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, and Databricks, shaping how spatial analytics are packaged, deployed, and consumed by AI agents.

You’ll influence engine dialects, open-format standards, and community participation while shipping production code in a cloud-native environment. This remote-first role welcomes candidates in the US or EU.

Qualifications

• Experience in cloud-native geospatial stack and related formats.
• Ability to read engine execution plans for major engines (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks).
• Production experience shipping AI-powered features and agentic patterns.
• Strong technical leadership with clear communication and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Shape the Analytics Toolbox framework: packaging, versioning, and deployment across engines.
• Define partner-engine SQL strategy to run code everywhere without sacrificing performance.
• Define Iceberg/open-format strategy for spatial data in CARTO’s stack.
• Represent CARTO in standards bodies and open-source communities.
• Assist in defining AI-native execution surfaces and interfaces for agents.
