Job summary
CARTO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Spatial Analytics & Open Formats to shape how analytics run across cloud-native environments. You will influence the Analytics Toolbox, fusion of AI with geospatial workloads, and integration with multiple engines.
You will lead open-format initiatives, participate in standards communities, and contribute to production-grade features in a serverless cloud setup. Remote role across US/EU, with strong backend focus in TypeScript/Node.js.
Qualifications
- Extensive cloud-native geospatial experience.
- Deep engine-level SQL knowledge (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks).
- Experience shipping production AI features and working with agentic patterns.
Responsibilities
- Define the Analytics Toolbox framework across engines and formats.
- Lead SQL strategy to write once and run everywhere with performance.
- Shape the Iceberg/open-format strategy and OSS contributions.
- Represent CARTO in open standards and community efforts (OGC, CNG, FOSS4G).
- Drive AI-native execution surface development and integration.
