Job summary

Applied Training Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Software & Security Engineer to drive software delivery, cloud infrastructure, and RMF/ATO compliance for a cloud-based application. This remote/hybrid role requires coordinating security across the SDLC and collaborating with clients and engineers to ensure authorization readiness.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering or cybersecurity.
• Proven RMF/ATO experience with hands-on involvement.
• Strong understanding of NIST frameworks (e.g., 800-53).
• Experience building applications using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, or Vue.js.
• Experience working in AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Solid understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead the RMF/ATO lifecycle, including documentation, control implementation, and audit readiness.
• Design and guide development of a secure, cloud-native application.
• Work with engineers to ensure security is built into the development process.
• Support and mentor junior engineers, helping them grow into hybrid roles.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to navigate compliance requirements.
• Oversee deployments in cloud environments using Docker, Docker Swarm, and Kubernetes.
• Help integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
