Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to lead 3-8 feature teams, owning delivery across platforms and ensuring engineering excellence. You will drive ownership, mentorship, and data-driven improvements while aligning with business strategy.

You'll oversee Agile/DevOps practices, partner with key stakeholders, and guide architecture decisions across the portfolio. Remote-friendly with in-office requirements for certain locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or 6+ years of equivalent experience.
• 4+ years leading multi-team engineering organizations.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud networking principles.
• Hands-on with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience building modern web apps and RESTful services.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience applying DDD and EDA concepts.
• Experience with Agile and DevOps practices.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• United States Citizenship.

• Lead multiple engineering teams and drive delivery accountability.
• Partner with product, business, and technology leaders to align on strategy.
• Own platform ownership, quality, and system performance.
• Implement and mature Agile and DevOps practices and automation.
• Mentor leaders and engineers; remove obstacles and enable outcomes.
• Participate in product-area events and use data to improve predictability.
