Maximus is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a high-performing team in delivering innovative IT applications. This fully remote role with 10% travel focuses on strategic direction, staff leadership, and collaboration with delivery and product managers to ensure scalable, high-quality software solutions for Medicaid technology spaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required
• 7+ years of relevant experience required
• Project management planning experience (1–3 years) required
• Technical Medicaid experience (3–5 years) required
• Managing cross functional teams and driving strategic direction expected

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to software engineers within IT Applications Development
• Define key priorities aligned with the Software Engineering practice vision
• Ensure best practices across design, development, and integration throughout SDLC
• Lead staffing decisions including hiring, performance management and retention
• Improve software lifecycle efficiency by improving requirements quality and reducing design/development time
• Manage software engineering staff as a shared service across multiple projects
• Ensure engineers have tools, skills, and training to meet project needs
• Coordinate geographically distributed staff to maximize utilization
• Collaborate with delivery and product managers to support product delivery and enhancements
• Drive engineering recruiting to attract and retain top talent
