Job description

Join to apply for the (Remote) Senior Software Developer role at Harris Computer.

Analyze business requirements; identify product impact and possible implementation options, and recommend the best solutions to meet customer and organizational needs.

1. Create and maintain application code that aligns with design specifications, adheres to HLG standards, and is easy to maintain.
2. Perform code reviews to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with standards, and fulfillment of requirements.
3. Provide Level 2 support for applications.
4. Estimate work efforts as requested.
5. Meet deadlines related to product release timelines and complete development tasks on time.
6. Fulfill administrative reporting requirements.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Experience / Skills

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of IBM AS/400 (PowerSystems) RPG-ILE programming experience.
• Experience with IBM AS/400 hardware/software migrations and troubleshooting hardware issues.
• Strong understanding of software requirements specifications and design interpretation.
• Experience working in a team environment developing software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer-service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• IBM DB2 experience.

Preferred but Not Required

• Experience with testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of county government software operations, billing, or financial systems.
• Knowledge of VTL, RDX drives, and Evault cloud backup.
• Basic knowledge of IBM Web Instances and PHP.
