Job summary

Keeper Security is seeking a Senior Software Architect to shape the architecture of secure, browser‑based experiences across Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and more. This is a 100% remote role with potential for a hybrid schedule for candidates in the Chicago, IL or El Dorado Hills, CA areas.

You will drive long‑term architecture, mentor engineers, and ensure zero‑knowledge security alignment while collaborating with product, security and UX teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering with full-stack expertise.
• Proven 0-to-1 architecture experience delivering complex systems.
• Strong OO design and Gang of Four patterns knowledge.
• Experience with cloud-native tech including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Security-focused design and threat modeling experience.
• Ability to mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical architecture and long‑term direction of Keeper’s browser extension platform.
• Lead architectural design for complex browser‑based features, shared services and cross‑platform capabilities.
• Design scalable solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript and modern web application technologies.
• Guide architecture across Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and other supported browser environments.
• Establish patterns for secure communication between browser extension components, web applications, backend services and native integrations.
• Lead technical decisions involving extension lifecycle, background services, content scripts, messaging, storage and browser APIs.
• Ensure architectural decisions align with Keeper’s zero‑knowledge and zero‑trust security principles.
• Identify and address performance, memory, reliability and scalability challenges across browser environments.
• Lead architecture reviews, design reviews and technical standards across the Browser Extension engineering team.
• Mentor senior engineers and help raise engineering quality, architecture discipline and technical decision‑making across the team.
