Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Network Engineer specialized in Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki, Viptela, routing, and switching. You will design modern, secure enterprise networks across distributed environments to support hybrid work and global operations.

You will collaborate with security, cloud, application, and delivery teams to deliver resilient, scalable network solutions while mentoring implementation and operations staff on SD-WAN design and best practices.

Qualifications

10+ years of enterprise routing and switching experience including Cisco switching and routing protocols.
10+ years designing/optimizing SD-WAN technologies in complex environments.
5–10 years with Cisco Meraki SD-WAN architecture and branch connectivity.
5+ years with Juniper technologies in enterprise networks.
Strong hands-on with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Viptela control/data planes.
Deep understanding of network security fundamentals and secure access controls.
Experience supporting hybrid work, cloud connectivity, and global enterprise networks.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design scalable SD-WAN solutions using Cisco Meraki for branch, remote, and enterprise locations.
Architect Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Viptela to support application-aware routing and multi-link usage.
Define end-to-end network architectures integrating SD-WAN, switching, routing, and security.
Design and optimize campus, branch, and data center routing/switching for high availability and performance.
Review existing topologies to improve availability and WAN/SD-WAN utilization.
Create design documentation, migration plans, and implementation guidelines.
Collaborate with security, cloud, application, and operations teams to align with policies.
Provide guidance during complex incidents related to SD-WAN, routing, switching, and performance.
Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to anticipate growth and plan upgrades.
Mentor teams on SD-WAN design, configuration, troubleshooting, and standards.
