Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Network Engineer specializing in Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki, Viptela, routing and switching to design and modernize secure, high-performing enterprise networks across distributed environments. You will architect scalable network solutions for reliable connectivity and hybrid work.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise routing and switching experience.
• 10+ years of SD-WAN design/implementation experience in complex enterprise environments.
• 5–10 years of Cisco Meraki SD-WAN architecture and branch connectivity experience.
• 5+ years of Juniper technologies in enterprise networks.
• Strong hands-on Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Viptela knowledge (control, data, management planes).
• Deep understanding of network security fundamentals including segmentation and secure tunneling.
• Experience supporting hybrid work, branch connectivity, remote access, and cloud connectivity with reliable user experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex network issues.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable SD-WAN solutions using Cisco Meraki for secure, resilient connectivity across branches and enterprise locations.
• Architect Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Viptela solutions for application-aware routing and multi-transport efficiency.
• Define end-to-end network architectures integrating SD-WAN, switching, routing, and security for hybrid work environments.
• Design and optimize Cisco routing/switching for campus, branch, and data center environments with high availability and segmentation.
• Review existing topologies to improve availability, reduce incidents, and optimize WAN/SD-WAN utilization.
• Create high- and low-level network design documentation including diagrams, standards, migration plans, and implementation guidelines.
• Collaborate with security, cloud, application, and operations teams to align designs with enterprise policies and cloud connectivity patterns.
• Provide technical guidance during complex incidents and problem investigations related to SD-WAN, routing, switching, and network performance.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to validate bandwidth needs and plan upgrades.
• Mentor implementation and operations teams on SD-WAN design, configuration methods, troubleshooting, and standards.
