Job summary

Dimensional Fund Advisors is seeking a Senior Python Engineer for the Data Distribution team. You will join the enterprise data warehouse ecosystem supporting Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, and Analytics.

You will design, develop, test, and optimize data pipelines and services, collaborating with analysts and project teams to deliver scalable, secure data solutions. The role emphasizes building high-performance data transfers, maintaining data freshness, and contributing to CI/CD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, computer science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 4-5 years of programming experience in Python (open source).
• Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and web services.
• 4-5 years of SQL experience.
• Experience with SOLID principles and Domain Driven Design.
• High performance and high availability data applications experience and optimization.
• Experience with automated acceptance testing and unit-tested code.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity risks and secure application design.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum and waterfall software development environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver data technology solutions for Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, Analytics and Reporting.
• Design, develop, test, and deliver scalable data platform services.
• Collaborate with analysts, product owners, and project managers on user stories and plans.
• Advise clients and IT management on technology capabilities and strategies.
• Identify and implement changes to data pipelines across ingestion, validation, storage, and delivery.
• Write tests, contribute to engineering docs and maintainable code.
• Develop high-performance data-transfer toolsets between endpoints.
• Focus on data consistency, refresh rates, and caching across interfaces.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines and participate in reviews.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and production support.
