Qualifications

Base pay range

$98,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr

About the role

The Substation Project Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical substations for utility and industrial clients. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of high-voltage substation equipment, industry standards, and project management skills. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project completion.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-voltage substation projects from 15 kV to 500 kV, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
  • Manage the project lifecycle from conception to commissioning, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Perform detailed calculations such as relay burden, voltage drop, and short circuit analysis.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements.
  • Utilize SCADA systems for monitoring and control to ensure grid reliability and safety.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, standards, and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Substation Project Engineer or similar role.
  • Proficient with SCADA systems and high-voltage substation design.
  • Experience with project lifecycle management for substations.
  • Strong skills in relay burden, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • PE license preferred but not required.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, capable of working independently.
