Job summary

GM Energy is seeking a Software Product Manager for residential energy software portfolio. You will define the product vision, partner with engineering, design, and business teams, and translate requirements into scalable software solutions for grid services and utility programs.

You will work across marketing, sales, and program management to drive go-to-market, monitor performance, and iterate based on data. Remote US-based role with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in product management or related field.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, design, and business stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Agile product development.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for software products within the utility and energy markets, aligning with GM Energy's overall objectives.
• Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and business teams using Agile and Waterfall methodologies to translate product requirements into detailed specifications and user stories.
• Lead the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch and post-launch optimization, ensuring successful product delivery and adoption.
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of commercial aspects of the energy industry, including regulatory frameworks, utility operations, and energy market dynamics.
• Utilize Design Thinking principles to empathize with users, define problems, ideate solutions, prototype, and test new product features.
• Facilitate and lead Group Problem Solving sessions to address complex technical and business challenges. Work closely with marketing and sales teams to develop compelling product messaging and go-to-market strategies.
• Monitor product performance, analyze key metrics, and iterate on products based on data-driven insights.
• Demonstrate strong Learning Agility to quickly adapt to new technologies, market shifts, and evolving business needs.
