Shutterfly is seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and development of Agentic AI platforms powering personalization and customer journeys across Shutterfly.

This is a high-impact, hands-on technical leadership role focused on shaping architecture and implementation of AI systems that drive conversion, customer satisfaction, and long-term growth. Remote role within the United States with preference to Phoenix, Dallas, or Charlotte areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• 12+ years of software engineering with deep distributed systems expertise.
• Proven track record architecting and delivering large-scale, high-impact systems.
• Experience influencing and leading cross-organizational technical strategy.
• Strong hands-on coding and system design skills.
• Experience operating large-scale, highly available cloud systems.
• Demonstrated ability to translate advanced technology into business impact.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build Agentic AI platforms that power personalized customer journeys and drive conversion.
• Define platform abstractions and reusable capabilities for AI-powered experiences across the org.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in prototyping, architecture, and production systems.
• Define and track AI-specific success metrics and partner with Product/Data teams to translate capabilities into business value.
• Mentor senior engineers and leaders; champion AI-first development practices.
