Job summary

YUM! is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer II to join the Developer Experience & Architecture team. This remote role focuses on federated GraphQL, shared libraries, and platform tooling for secure, reliable services used across the organization.

You will lead design decisions, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams to turn needs into scalable platform capabilities while ensuring high performance and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering with production distributed systems.
• Experience as a senior IC or technical lead owning design decisions.
• Strong GraphQL proficiency, including federated architectures.
• Go experience building production services with performance focus.
• Deep knowledge of authentication/authorization (OAuth/OIDC, RBAC).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong observability, debugging, and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Evolve federated GraphQL platform and shared infra for reliability and security.
• Build reusable libraries, frameworks, and developer tooling.
• Design and improve authentication, authorization, and API access.
• Operate and improve critical platform services including observability.
• Partner with teams to scale platform capabilities from recurring needs.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and mentoring.
