Job summary

Frontline Education is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design, build, and scale cloud-native platform services. You will lead API and microservice development, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate delivery.

You will mentor engineers, help define platform standards, and drive reliability, security, and operational excellence across distributed systems in a remote US setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern backend development practices.
• Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and distributed cloud-native systems.
• Ability to independently deliver complex features and services with high quality and reliability.
• Experience contributing to technical design discussions and evaluating implementation tradeoffs.
• Strong understanding of testing, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering best practices.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity while applying sound judgment and validation practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support cloud-native shared services and reusable platform capabilities.
• Develop scalable APIs, microservices, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven solutions using TypeScript and modern backend technologies.
• Build configurable and extensible platform capabilities that support diverse product needs across Frontline's ecosystem.
• Contribute to distributed systems leveraging messaging technologies such as Kafka and modern event-driven architectures.
• Support modernization initiatives that improve scalability, maintainability, security, and operational excellence.
• Partner with product engineering teams to improve adoption experiences and reduce integration complexity.
• Participate in discovery, refinement, and design discussions to evaluate requirements and shape practical solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA Engineers, Technical Leads, and Engineering Managers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
