Job summary

Frontline Education is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Platform, Core Services. You will serve as technical lead for an engineering pod designing reusable platform capabilities across Frontline’s product ecosystem.

Expect hands‑on coding, architecture reviews, and cross‑team collaboration to deliver reliable outcomes. You’ll mentor engineers, align with architectural standards, and advance CI/CD, observability, and secure‑by‑default practices while embracing AI‑assisted development

Qualifications

• BSCS or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience at senior technical leadership level.
• Experience leading technical execution for engineering teams or cross-functional initiatives.
• Deep experience with distributed, cloud-native systems.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and modern backend patterns.
• Experience designing APIs, microservices, data models, and SaaS architectures.
• Experience with Node.js and NestJS.
• Cloud-native solutions on AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, SNS/SQS).
• Docker, relational DBs, event-driven architecture, Kafka.
• Frontend concepts including React and TS; Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a pod delivering shared Core Services platform capabilities.
• Guide technical execution: decomposition, strategy, design reviews, delivery coordination.
• Hands-on engineering: prototyping, coding, reviews, incident support.
• Partner with PMs to clarify problems and shape reusable platform solutions.
• Define initial releases and iterative delivery strategies for platform evolution.
• Design and implement cloud-native APIs, microservices, and data models.
• Improve observability, security, reliability, and developer experience.
